Are you ready to be baptized? Baptism is a public declaration of faith and a powerful step in the spiritual journey of every believer. In fact, the Bible describes baptism as a natural first step for anyone who has made a personal decision to follow Jesus. If you've decided to follow Jesus and it's your intent to live your life according to His Word, then you're ready!

Though a person is not "saved" by baptism, believers are called to be baptized as a testimony to their salvation. At Kings Church, our general practice is to baptize by immersion. That is, the person being baptized is fully submerged into water and then being brought back out. Other options are available in cases where immersion is not possible, such as when there are medical or mobility issues.
Consider these four implications of this Biblical model of baptism.
1. Baptism identifies the believer with the Crucifixion and Resurrection.
Baptism recalls Jesus’ death as the person goes under the water, and as the person reemerges, it points to how Jesus rose from the grave. It visually shows how the person has died to self and has come alive in Christ.
2. Baptism represents new life.
Through baptism, the believer leaves behind the old self and takes on a new identity established in Jesus. “The old life is gone; a new life has begun” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)! Though not the moment of salvation, baptism signifies that the one being baptized has been transformed into a new person by the grace of God.
3. Baptism represents the washing away of sinfulness.
In Acts 22, the Apostle Paul describes how his own baptism represented a cleansing from sin. As believers receive the forgiveness offered by Jesus, their sinfulness is washed away and they are purified in the eyes of God.
4. Baptism demonstratively declares a decision to follow Jesus.
As a public statement, baptism demonstrates to onlookers that the person being baptized is serious about his or her decision to follow Jesus. Simultaneously, it announces an intention to follow Jesus throughout the remainder of life.
The process of being baptized takes only a matter of seconds as you are immersed into the water and brought back up again, but they are moments packed full of meaning. May God bless you as you proclaim your devotion to Him through this simple yet significant act.
